Two endangered whooping cranes arrived at the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, a refuge spokeswoman said.

“We are behind schedule this year. There is not much to report yet,” Vicki Muller, a wildlife refuge specialist, said via e-mail on Wednesday.

She could not comment on the condition of the birds but added that most of the crane sightings are in Nebraska and North Dakota. Muller said recent cold fronts should draw more birds next week.
