Bay Inflows, Legal Action and the Economic and Ecological Future of Aransas County
Paws and Taws, Fulton Texas: Monday, November 9, 2015 6:30 p.m.
The Aransas Project, its legal team and the International Crane Foundation invite you to join them, the Matagorda Bay Foundation and other local entities for a presentation on the continuing effort to obtain freshwater inflows for San Antonio and Aransas Bays. These inflows are critical to the future of fishing and whoopers in Aransas County. Without a long term commitment of water to these bays, the economy as well as the ecology of Aransas County are in jeopardy.
The legal team will make a presentation about TAP’s litigation against the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality over the death of 23 whooping cranes in 2008-2009. This litigation was a legal and scientific landmark that will have a strong legacy. Although this case was ultimately lost, it will be important in obtaining water for San Antonio and Aransas Bays. It will set in motion a series of further legal and advocacy actions that are about to unfold and which will be discussed in some detail.
Please come and hear about our plans to secure the water future of Aransas County.
